Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 3, 2026

Your privacy is very important to us at Yout. This Privacy Policy document outlines what data Yout receives and how we store, manage, and protect it. Yout LLC is the controller of the personal data described here.

Logs

Yout uses log files, which are files that record information including requested webpage resources, IP addresses, browser types, and timestamps. This information is used by Yout for troubleshooting, service analysis, security, and site maintenance.

If you are not an upgraded user, Yout applies a free-tier rate limit. To do that it keeps a short-lived counter against a hashed combination of your IP address and browser user-agent string. That counter records only a tally of how many free format shifts have been started — never which video or audio was format shifted — and it expires automatically after 24 hours. The transcoding servers that perform the format shift do not log your IP address.

Collected Information

Yout receives and stores information that you enter on the website. This includes requested resources, search queries, and DVR settings. This information is stored to monitor and analyse service activity.

If you create an account, Yout stores your email address, your language preference, your subscription and billing status, and — if you sign in with Google or Microsoft — the account identifier those providers return to us. If you purchase, Yout stores a record of the transaction, including the amount, the country it was charged in, the card brand, expiry month and year, and the last four digits of the card. Yout never receives or stores your full card number.

Yout records anonymous product-usage events — for example that a pricing page was viewed or a checkout was started — together with the IP address the event came from, so that we can measure how the service is working and detect abuse. Clicks on links in our newsletters are recorded in the same way. In the Yout desktop and mobile applications, usage events are stored with the IP address truncated to its first three octets so that it cannot identify an individual connection.

Yout determines your country from your IP address in order to show the correct price for your region. This lookup runs on Yout's own servers against a local database; your IP address is not sent to a third party for this purpose.

Yout will not collect any personal information about you except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information, or as described in this policy.

Who We Share Data With

Yout does not sell your personal data, and does not share it for advertising. We do rely on a small number of service providers to operate the service, and only the data they need is shared with them:

  • Payment processing — card details and the billing address you enter at checkout are sent directly to our payment processor to take payment and to detect fraud.
  • Email delivery — your email address is used to send account, transactional and product email. Mail to some providers is relayed through a third-party mail service to ensure it is delivered.
  • Site analytics — an analytics provider receives page-view information so we can see how the site is used.
  • Error monitoring — technical error reports, which may include the URL and request details, are sent to an error-monitoring service so faults can be diagnosed.
  • Translation — interface text, and only interface text, is sent to a machine translation service so the site can be offered in many languages. No personal data is sent.
  • Sign-in providers — if you choose to sign in with Google or Microsoft, that provider confirms your identity to us. Yout never receives your password for those accounts.

Yout may also disclose information where required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Yout, its users, or the public.

Cookies

Yout uses cookies for two purposes. Some are strictly necessary: they keep you signed in, protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and carry your session through checkout. If these are blocked you can still browse the site and format shift as a free user, but you will not be able to sign in or complete a purchase.

Others simply remember your preferences, such as your chosen language. Those are optional and the service works without them.

Cookies may also be stored by third parties via third party content embedded in Yout, like multimedia players and analytics. Yout has no control over the cookies stored by third parties.

How Long We Keep It

The free-tier rate-limit counter expires after 24 hours. Account and transaction records are kept for as long as your account exists, and afterwards for as long as we are required to keep them for tax, accounting and legal purposes. Product-usage events and server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for analysis, security and troubleshooting.

Your Choices and Rights

You can change your email preferences, or unsubscribe from product email, at any time from your account page or using the unsubscribe link in any product email. Account and service email — such as receipts, payment notifications and password resets — is part of the service and cannot be switched off while your account is active.

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your personal data. To make any such request, contact us and we will respond. We may need to retain some records after deletion where the law requires it.

Children

Yout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
